canadian thanksgiving

yesterday, tony and i joined our friends to celebrate canadian thanksgiving. included were a contingent from canada, a couple from florida and six of us from here in cleveland. the menu is traditional, including:

• turkey, roasted with sage and rosemary
• giblet gravy
• stuffing, rich with mushrooms and onion
• homemade spaetzle
• sweet potato casserole with toasted cashews
• mashed potatoes
• cauliflower and carrot casserole
• cucumber and onion salad
• cranberry sauce
• rolls and butter
• assorted wines

the dessert buffet included:

• a yummy rhubarb and raspberry pie
• pumpkin pie
• apple crumble pie
• dundee cake
• cinnamon ice cream
• whipped cream
• caramel sauce with brandied raisins
• coffee and tea

our hosts did a marvelous job (as they always do) and everyone had a great time. they are a wonderful group of guys. i always feel very welcome with them!
